The Canadian Brownfields Network (CBN) was founded in March 2004 by OCETA, the Canadian Urban Institute and EcoLog Information Resources Group, in response to the National Round Table on the Environment and Economy (NRTEE) recommendation to establish a national brownfields network in Canada. OCETA provides management and administrative support for the CBN.

The CBN advocates brownfield redevelopment as an essential component of sustainable communities and urban revitalization in Canada
