OCETA announces Community Go Green Funding for Climate Change Stewardship Project
OCETA is pleased to announce a $93,850 funding grant from Ontario's Community Go Green Fund to deliver a GTA-based Climate Change Stewardship Project.
The Project aims to achieve quantifiable greenhouse gas emission reductions by providing the GTA manufacturing community with support for energy efficiency and pollution prevention assessments, and engaging industry and the public through community outreach forums.
Charles Sousa MPP, Mississauga South, made the formal announcement at OCETA's office in Mississauga on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. "Lifestyle choices that we make every day can affect our environment. Small choices by everybody add up to big results" said Sousa. "I’m thrilled that the government is supporting this project in our community to help people do their part to fight climate change."
"Today’s funding announcement is great news for the environment and for the citizens of the Greater Toronto Area, including the City of Mississauga" said Kevin Jones, President & CEO of the Ontario Centre for Environmental Technology Advancement (OCETA). "This commitment from the government of Ontario will better enable us to assist businesses and the general public with reducing their carbon and environmental footprints".
"We’re building on our efforts to fight climate change with these 34 projects. We're lucky to have people in this province who care about the environment and who, through their actions, will make Ontario a cleaner, greener place to live, work and raise our families." - John Gerretsen, Ontario Environment Minister
"Saving money is the best way to help the bottom line," said Fred Granek, Vice President Sustainability, OCETA. "Wasting energy and throwing away resources - that's not a good way to be profitable. We're just talking about better business and doing business better."
